Sean Leous
Sean Leous is a media relations specialist with extensive experience in pharmaceuticals (branded and generic), biotechnology, medical devices, hospitals and healthcare systems, corporate social responsibility and policy. While serving as a Vice President in the Healthcare Group at Hill and Knowlton, he led the account teams awarded PRWeek’s Best Healthcare Campaign of the Year in 2010 and 2012.
Biography
With over 20 years of experience in media relations, Sean is known for his strategic thinking, hands-on approach, relationship building and ability to deploy the full range of PR tools including the latest social media practices. He has worked across the board on: oncology, cardiology, obesity, auto-immune diseases, women’s health, orphan drugs, generics, vaccines, pain management, and infectious disease. He has an extensive background in U.S. healthcare policy and experience with regulatory agencies including the U.S. FDA and international regulatory groups. He has held senior positions at Financial Dynamics, Hill & Knowlton, and Burson-Marstellar, and has worked at boutique communications shops where he served as Chief Communications Officer and Managing Director of Public Relations and Corporate Communications.
During his career, Sean has directed pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device launches, conducted media tours and worked numerous media relations campaigns at professional medical and scientific conferences. He has written scripts for U.S. Congressional inquiries, directed multiple crisis communications programs including: negative data, product recalls, SEC investigations, activist shareholder actions, a pharmaceutical plant explosion, management changes and resignations and served as an on-record spokesperson for several small and micro-cap companies.
Sean has a BA in art history and French from State University of New York College at Potsdam. Sean is a Trustee of the Foundation Board of SUNY Potsdam.
